GE Network Solutions Pens Deal with Zheijiang Provincial Electric Power Company of China

May 29, 2003

ATLANTA, GEORGIA (May 29, 2003) --- GE Network Solutions, a leading supplier of software to the utilities industry, recently penned an agreement with Zheijiang Provincial Electric Power Company (ZPEPC) in China to optimize its energy distribution and transmission infrastructure. Known for its ability to help large companies leverage the power of their existing network infrastructure, GE Network Solutions will implement its Smallworld Core Spatial Technology™ application that will allow ZPEPC to create and analyze maps and schematics, extract circuit data to predict demand, analyze network load, and to scrutinize demographic information.
Mr. Zhao Yi Liang, vice president of ZPEPC commented, "As part of the on-going network modernization of Zhejiang's city power bureaus, we have selected GE Network Solutions for their state of the art technology and the scalability of their product offerings. We're comfortable that the solution we've developed will meet our current and future needs for a truly integrated enterprise information system."
"ZPEPC has established an excellent working relationship with GE Network Solutions and Yao De Computer Software (Beijing) Co. Ltd. and would like to further enhance our affiliation."
The initial scope of the project will include employing GE Network Solutions Smallworld Core Spatial Technology software, in Zheijiang's city power bureaus. Currently a total of 69 GIS user licenses are now deployed in at least seven sites, however additional sites are slated for inclusion during the latter part of the year, culminating with more than 300 GIS users by the end of the project. As a measure of continued improvement, ZPEPC is currently evaluating other GE Network Solutions design, planning, and outage management applications to further enhance their network infrastructure.
GE Power Systems China Country Executive, Steve Fludder, stated, "We are pleased to have this opportunity to serve Zheijiang's power and distribution requirements. GE Power Systems is committed to serving the Chinese utilities industry and will continue to introduce products and services that address their strategic needs."
