SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (March 3, 2003) --- GE Network Solutions, a leading supplier of network management solutions to the utility and telecommunications industries, is pleased to announce the release of its Smallworld Schematics Generator product. The product enables companies to produce accurate schematics of their geographic network to support network planning and maintenance activities. The announcement was made at this year's Geospatial Information and Technology Association (GITA) Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
The Smallworld Schematics Generator product transforms complex geographic networks into compact, simplified schematics to support fast, confident decision-making. With a simplified view of the network, companies can quickly determine critical network information such as capacity requirements, load balancing, routing and component relationships from a single drawing.
With the Smallworld Schematics Generator product companies can create schematics of all or parts of their networks and render them in a variety of layouts including orthogonal, circular, hierarchical and symmetrical. Nested layouts can be created to show both visible network elements and their internal view. Advanced white space management capabilities minimize network element clutter to generate a highly legible schematic view for even the most complex networks. Tools for hard copy map book publishing and maintenance are also included in the product.
The Smallworld Schematics Generator product addresses the need that utility and telecommunications companies have long expressed for an easier way to generate accurate, compact and schematics of their networks. The product leverages existing GIS data andeliminates the need to draft and maintain separate geographic maps and schematic drawing to support operations activities. Critical decisions can be made quickly and confidently based on current, accurate network information.
Henry Stueber, president of GE Network Solutions, commented, "The introduction of our Smallworld Schematics Generator product delivers additional value to our Smallworld Spatial Core Technology™ software customers. Customers can now leverage the value of their GIS data without the high cost of customization or the need to recreate schematics manually from disparate data sets."
