GE Names William H. Cary Vice President Of Corporate Investor Communications; Shane Fitzsimons Named VicePresident, Financial Planning & Analysis

FAIRFIELD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 4, 2004--GE today named William H. Cary, 44, vice president of corporate investor communications.
Cary, currently corporate vice president for financial planning and analysis, succeeds Richard F. Wacker, who has taken a position outside the company at Korea Exchange Bank.
"Bill has a strong knowledge of the company, having served in leadership positions in corporate and several GE businesses," said GE Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer Keith S. Sherin, to whom Cary will report. "Bill is the best leader we have in GE for this position. Bill's understanding of the company, solid operating experience and his excellent communications skills will be great assets in this increasingly important role."
Cary previously served as president and CEO of GE Vendor Financial Services, where he successfully lead the effort to diversify the business into new growth areas, and as vice president and manager of financial planning and analysis for GE Capital. In his 17-year GE career, he has also served as chief financial officer of global consumer finance and business development for GE Capital in Asia, and a variety of operating, marketing, and financial positions. He holds a bachelor of science degree in finance from San Jose State University and is a graduate of GE's Financial Management Program.
GE also named Shane Fitzsimons, 36, vice president of financial planning & analysis. "Shane is a terrific global leader who brings extensive analytical capability to his new role," said Sherin.
Fitzsimons, currently general manager, finance for GE Aircraft Engines Services, has held several financial leadership positions, including financial planning & analysis at aircraft engines, commercial finance for plastics in Europe, and financial analysis at corporate.
