GE Names Elyse Allan President and CEO, GE Canada

September 13, 2004

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 13, 2004--Elyse Allan, 47, has been appointed President and CEO, GE Canada, succeeding Bob Gillespie who is retiring at the end of the year after more than 50 years of service with the Company.
Elyse began her GE career in 1984 as a Consultant with the Corporate Marketing Consulting Services in Bridgeport, CT. She moved to Canada in 1988 as Manager, Customer Service Program for GE Canada, and later served as Marketing Manager for the GE Commercial and Industrial business in Lighting. Elyse subsequently held a senior marketing role with Ontario Hydro and for the past several years has been President and Chief Executive Officer of the Toronto Board of Trade, where she has demonstrated outstanding leadership in turning that organization around financially and in terms of profile and impact.
"Elyse's leadership skills, commercial experience, and vast network both with private sector leaders and with various levels of government, position her well to make a very positive contribution to GE operations in Canada in the key role of National Executive and President and CEO GE Canada," said Nani Beccalli, President and CEO, GE Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Canada and Latin America. Elyse received a Bachelor of Arts degree (Biology & Environmental Studies) from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, and also subsequently, an MBA degree granted by the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth. Elyse, husband Don and son Stuart reside in Toronto.
She will be assuming her new responsibilities effective October 4, 2004.
