Innovative ad campaign receives top honors at 13th annual Financial Communications Society Portfolio Awards in New York City
STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GE Money, the consumer lending unit of General Electric Company (NYSE:GE), earned top honors at the Financial Communications Society (FCS) Portfolio Awards dinner on May 17 in New York City before 500 industry professionals gathered to celebrate the best in financial services advertising and collateral. GE Money won the Interactive Campaign gold award in the consumer retail category for its unique online advertising campaign for GE Money Student Loans.
The campaign was designed to help generate awareness of the options and flexibility that GE Money Student Loans provide while educating both college students and parents about the benefits and ease-of-use associated with obtaining these loans.
Web site banner ads include, "Dear Mom and Dad: Tuition is taken care of. Now, about my major..." and "Dear Mom and Dad: Lab fees came to $1,000. Wait until grad school."
Private student loans are important financing tools as they help bridge the gap between what federal student loans finance and the high costs of education. Private student loans can be used for most educational purchases, such as college "room and board" costs or computer system purchases, which are now required by many colleges and universities.
"The GE Money Student Loan campaigns allow us to connect with our customers -- when and where they are most comfortable making financial decisions related to funding college expenses," said Scott Young, leader of GE Money's Personal Finance business. "The interactive nature of the 'Dear Mom and Dad' campaign helps students and parents feel comfortable that GE Money understands the significant impact these milestone decisions have on the entire family."
GE Money partnered with Sapient's marketing services business for the new campaign.
"The FCS awards honor outstanding work that sets the bar high for the way financial companies communicate with their customers," said Julia von Winterfeldt, group account director for Sapient. "Winning this award highlights our strong creative capabilities and expertise in the financial sector. Most of all, it shows that our campaigns make a positive and tangible business impact for our clients."
The FCS Portfolio Awards judging panel comprised 15 senior marketing executives and agency creative directors in the financial services industry.
