GE Money Bank launches MasterCard Gold and Silver credit cards

March 16, 2009

GE Money Bank Switzerland launches GE Money Bank MasterCard Gold and Silver credit cards independent from a commercial partner.

For the first time, GE Money Bank Switzerland launches GE Money Bank MasterCard Gold and Silver credit cards independent from a commercial partner. Card holder benefits include comprehensive travel and aviation accident insurance, low annual fees and interesting credit limits.

On 16 March 2009, GE Money Bank Switzerland launches its own Gold and Silver credit cards, GE Money Bank MasterCard Gold and GE Money Bank MasterCard Silver, with attractive annual fees. The GE Money Bank MasterCard Silver has an annual fee of CHF 75 and CHF 20 for an additional card. The annual fee for the GE Money Bank MasterCard Gold is CHF 135 and CHF 50 for an additional card.
Insurance cover
Insurance covers the consequences of travel and aviation accidents provided at least 80 % of travel costs have been paid with a valid GE Money Bank MasterCard credit card. In case of disability or death as a result of an insured accident, the Gold card covers a maximum insured sum of CHF 600,000, whilst the Silver card covers a maximum indemnity amount of CHF 300,000. Both cards offer up to CHF 60,000 for transport and recovery costs.

Interesting credit limits
The Gold and Silver cards feature different insurance sums and credit limits. The maximum credit limit is CHF 10,000 for the Silver and CHF 20,000 for the Gold card. Customers with an approved credit limit of at least CHF 5,000 can apply for a Gold card. Cards can be used to pay for purchases in 23.7 million sales outlets worldwide or to withdraw cash from an ATM machine. The card balance may be paid in full or in part every month. In case of part payment, interest is charged at 13.9%.
For Heinz Hofer, Direct Channel Manager GE Money Bank Switzerland, the cards enhance the company's product offering: "We are pleased to be able to offer our existing and new customers a credit card, which is accepted all over the world and features a Gold and Silver status with integrated insurance benefits."
