STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GE Money, the consumer lending unit of General Electric Company (NYSE:GE), and Modell's Sporting Goods, the nation's oldest family-owned and operated retailer of sporting goods, apparel, fan gear and brand name athletic footwear, today announced they will offer a Modell's Most Valuable Player (MVP) Platinum MasterCard credit card and a Modell's MVP Private Label credit card to customers at their more than 130 stores throughout the Northeastern United States.

"To our customers, our name is synonymous with trustworthiness, quality and value," said Robert Stevenish, president and chief operating officer for Modell's Sporting Goods. The Modell's-branded MVP Platinum MasterCard credit card and the Modell's MVP Private Label credit card will be issued by GE Money Bank and marketed to new and existing Modell's customers. The MVP program will enable cardholders to earn rewards at all Modell's locations, and everywhere MasterCard is accepted worldwide, plus receive 15% off their first Modell's purchase on the card. In business for over 118 years, Modell's strives to be the "Hometown Sporting Goods Store" for each of the communities it serves. The new credit card provides the retailer with additional value to deliver to its loyal customers.

"These credit programs are a great way to deliver greater flexibility and attractive rewards, while building even stronger loyalty among Modell's customer base," said Margaret Keane, president and chief executive officer, GE Money - Retail Consumer Finance.
