TORINO, Italy--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 16, 2006--GE, a Worldwide Partner of the Olympic Games, announced that GE Lighting is providing variety of products and services to support the major venues of the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games and the city center of Torino.
For the city, specifically, GE Lighting is supplying:
-- Upgraded street lights in the historic city center;
-- Lighting systems in Piazza Castello, where the medal ceremonies will take place, Piazzetta Reale, Piazza San Carlo, Piazza San Felice, Via Roma and Via Po;
-- 300 electronic reactors that will help reduce energy consumption by over 235,000KWh per year.
At the Olympic Games venues, GE is delivering:
-- UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) technology to secure the flawless operations of all equipment from the Opening Ceremony throughout the duration of the Games;
-- Lighting for Torino Esposizioni, the Olympic hockey venue, and the slalom skiing venue in Sestriere by using more than 600 floodlights that will allow an HDTV broadcast to the entire world;
-- Essential lighting in all the common areas of Stadio Comunale di Torino, the main stadium of the Torino Games;
-- XLR tubes to light corridors, stairwells, internal halls and dressing rooms.
