GE Lighting showcases modern energy-efficient lighting systems in Riyadh

June 08, 2012

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; June 9, 2012: GE Lighting, an industry leader in major lighting solutions for commercial, industrial and residential use, showcased its portfolio of modern, energy-efficient lighting systems at a roadshow in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Encompassing all application verticals, the portfolio of energy-efficient lighting products by GE covered the lighting requirements of the Kingdom across road transport, commercial, hospitality and retail segments, among others. The roadshow featured both LED down lights as well as indoor products, in addition to a special collection of lighting solutions that are ideal for the outdoor weather conditions of the region.

Diederik de Stoppelaar, Global Outdoor Leader of GE Lighting, underlined the importance of adapting energy efficient lighting systems to the participants, who represented all key industry sectors. "Apart from reduced energy consumption, GE Lighting's new portfolio of lighting solutions also ensures the added advantage of reduced carbon footprint and reduction in the cost of usage by up to 80 percent that adds to the long-term value for users."

He added: "With growing demand for energy as well as the Kingdom witnessing massive investments in infrastructure development including the building of new highways and commercial projects, drawing on the newest technologies in lighting is important for long-run operational efficiencies as well as to meet the energy requirements. GE Lighting's long history of operations in the Kingdom make as an ideal partner, with our solutions tailored to meet the requirements of the region."

Among the newest products on display at the roadshow included the new Lumination™ LED Luminaires range for office applications, and the LED Road R250 for smart city outdoor lighting. Lumination™ family offers the first true LED alternative to LFL lighting for office, retail, education and healthcare environments - making significant energy savings a commercial reality and introducing full dimming capability and unrivalled architectural styling to both retrofit and new build projects. The new generation of LED Road R250 luminaires is combining the expertise in street and highway illumination with the design and performance capability of a reliable and robust LED system. Its advanced optical system improves the uniformity of both vertical and horizontal light, enabling better quality and control of public lighting.

GE Lighting's white light solutions contribute to increased safety and environmental sustainability. Road users studies have shown that a car driver's reaction time (mesopic vision) is at least six times higher under white light and the higher colour rendering also improves obstacle recognition.

GE Lighting has a rich history in the Middle East having established long-standing business association with over 70 key partners over the past several decades. Last year, GE Lighting unveiled its first full-fledged distribution center in the Middle East in Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai. The company has a strong network of lighting designers and invests in R&D to develop tailor-made solutions for lighting needs.

GE Lighting has over 15,000 employees globally. The headquarters is in Cleveland, Ohio, the EMEA Headquarters is in Budapest, Hungary. The research and development of GE Lighting is coordinated through its Global Technology Center from Hungary with other locations in Cleveland and Shanghai.
