Smart energy-saving electronic sensor compact fluorescent lamp (CFL)

GE Lighting (Thailand) Ltd, a leader of energy-saving lighting innovation from the United States, is introducing the highly-efficient electronic sensor compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) , using outstanding technology initiatives from GE. Besides of its compact size, the lamp provides benefits of two built in sensors which can detect ambient brightness and automatically switch on and off depending on light level. Users of this electronic sensor CFL can be certain that the sensors will help save energy during the day when light is not needed while being there to provide brightness and security at night.

In addition to the reliable sensors, GE's electronic sensor CFL uses almost 80 percent less energy and last for up to 6,000 hours, or six times longer than currently used incandescent light bulbs. This lamp is rated energy class "A" on the European Union's energy label and has very low mercury content of just 3 milligrams, lower than the RoHS standard that allows for up to 5 milligrams, ideal for outdoor usage or any sunlight reachable area. Being small and compact, it can be used as a replacement for lamp using E27 screw sockets and is recommended for outdoor applications for; homes, hotels, shops, restaurants, walkways or outside buildings to increase security at night. Energy-efficient and easy to install, these lamps are available in 15-watt warm white and daylight colors and cost only slightly more than regular compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) and will be available in stores from April 2012.

The electronic sensor CFL is just one innovation in GE's Ecomagination product range, which is a business initiative in response to today's energy and environmental challenges. GE intends to develop innovative products and services in line with these challenges in order to increase profits and has set a target to increase investment in Ecomagination products by 2015 to the value of 10,000 million US dollars in order to reduce energy use by 50 percent and water use by 25 percent while doubling revenues from its Ecomagination business.
