GE Lighting Facilitates Office Lighting Design Process with Autodesk® Seek Files for Architects

June 14, 2013

EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio --- June 14, 2013 --- (NYSE:GE) --- From contemporary aesthetics to benefits in energy efficiency, lighting is a key element in office design. GE Lighting is committed to helping architects and engineers transform spaces with innovative lighting solutions for offices, restaurants and high-end retail environments that combine the latest in LED technology with modern design. To facilitate the design process, GE's indoor Lumination™ LED Luminaires are available as building information modeling (BIM) files on the Autodesk Seek software system from Autodesk, Inc.

The Autodesk Seek web service enables architects, engineers and design professionals to quickly discover, preview and download BIM files, models, drawings, and product specifications directly into their active design sessions in Autodesk Revit or AutoCAD software.

Architects can easily specify GE's interior lighting solutions to optimally design open or private office spaces, meeting rooms and reception areas that deliver a visually striking look with improved energy efficiency. Using Autodesk Seek software, the products can become embedded within the structure, analytics and view of a project.

"By listing our indoor LED fixtures on Autodesk's system, we're providing architects with a new tool to help concept and modify their designs in real time," said David Kaminski, brand manager, Lumination™ LED Luminaires and Indoor LED Systems, GE Lighting. "As BIM files, GE lighting products can be incorporated into 3D models to support project decision-making from concept to design and eventually construction---saving architects design time while also improving customers' understanding and adoption of a new design."

GE displayed its commitment to project integration with the recently introduced Lumination™ BL Series LED Luminaires, designed and tested specifically for the Logix™ Ceiling System from USG and compatible with most other integrated ceiling systems in the marketplace today. The Lumination BL Series LED fixtures bring architects and designers a new, monolithic integrated ceiling and lighting system that is becoming increasingly popular in commercial office, retail and other contemporary environments.

The new Lumination™ EL Series LED Luminaire fixtures marry fashion and function to create more modern ceiling landscapes and visually striking possibilities for lighting designers. With an ultra-thin design, the fixtures produce an even glow when switched on. When off, it appears nearly transparent with individual LED diodes hidden inside the frame so as not to detract from the look of the environment where it is installed.
