GE Insurance Solutions Supports 10th Annual Walkfor UNCF

KANSAS CITY, Mo.--Sept. 17, 2004--GE Insurance Solutions (NYSE:GE) is proud to present the 2004 UNCF Stepping Back in Time for Education Walk-a-Thon in Kansas City on Saturday, September 18.

This year, the company will put ten teams of employees on the streets, walking and raising money for the United Negro College Fund. They'll be joined by employees of GE Energy, GE Transportation and GE Commercial Finance as GE strives to reach a goal of $200,000. Volunteers will walk 3.2 miles in the beautiful and historic 18th & Vine Jazz District.

-- Within the Kansas City area, UNCF has assisted over 500 local students, many of which have returned to become leaders in their professions and active contributors to our community.

-- More than 300,000 students have graduated from UNCF colleges. More than 90% of students attending UNCF member institutions require some form of financial assistance.

-- More than half the students attending UNCF member institutions are from families with a gross income of less than $35,000 and roughly half of UNCF students are from single-parent households.
