GE Insurance Solutions Legal Experts to Lead Discussions at Arbitrations Conference

September 19, 2005

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 19, 2005--Three members of GE Insurance Solutions' in-house legal team will play major roles at the upcoming National Forum on Reinsurance Arbitrations meetings in Chicago.

GE Insurance Solutions General Counsel Mark Elborne will co-chair the conference and moderate a panel on "In-House Counsel's Guide to Managing the Arbitration Process." Also participating on the panel will be GE Insurance Solutions in-house counsel Dave Brodnan and Tony Mormino.

"Rigorous management of the arbitration process is essential to enhancing a reinsurer's probability of a positive outcome," said Brodnan. "At the Forum we will discuss the elements of responsible management -- including various techniques, understanding ceding company bias, knowing when arbitration may not be necessary, understanding when to go to court, and when to consolidate multiple cases."

Brodnan has authored a paper for the conference along with in-house counsels Mark C. Kareken of Nationwide Indemnity Company, and James G. Sporleder and Martin P. Cillick of Allstate Insurance Company. It is titled "In-House Counsels' Suggestions for Managing the Arbitration Process" and is available at http://www.geinsurancesolutions.com/erccorporate/documents/news_events/managing_the_arbitration_process.pdf.
