GE Infrastructure's Security division introduces truly integrated security with Advisor Master

March 25, 2004

Dubai, March 25, 2004: GE Energy, one of the world's leading suppliers of power generation and energy delivery technology, has introduced its specialised products for efficient fuel management, in addition to air emission monitoring and data acquisition systems at WETEX 2004, the annual water, energy and environment technologies exhibition and conference, held in Dubai. GE's advanced technology on exhibit included equipment, services and management solutions designed to serve the region's power generation, oil and gas, distributed power and energy rental industries.

GE Energy has featured its new range of Smallworld Geographical Information Systems (GIS) solutions, designed specifically for electricity and water distribution and providing increased efficiency and accuracy for electric utilities. The host of GIS-Based network solutions, including the Smallworld Core Spatial Technology™, the Smallworld Design Manager™ for network planning, designing and building, and the Smallworld PowerOn®, a distribution management system, were demonstrated to customers at the GE Energy stand. The software integrates with other products which require spatial information, including systems for customer relationship management, market analysis, network and work management.

Commenting on GE's participation in WETEX, Nabil Habayeb, Regional Executive and General Manager for GE Energy - Africa, India, and the Middle East said, "This year at WETEX, GE Energy presented its most comprehensive ever portfolio of cutting-edge technology for the full spectrum of the energy industry. As a world-leading provider of innovative products and services, we consider our participation in WETEX vital in emphasising our commitment to bringing the most reliable and cost-effective solutions to our regional customers in the power sector."

GE's range of solutions designed for a cleaner environment were highlighted at WETEX, including air emission testing, monitoring, reporting and control systems. Engineers, executive management and other specialists in the energy and water industries also had the opportunity to benefit from a technical seminar on air emissions reduction and monitoring technology, presented by GE specialist Dale Fennell. Furthermore, integrated thermal power and desalination optimisation was the focus of an additional presentation by GE specialist Peter Hartner.

"With the region's rapidly developing industrial sector and the increasing energy and water needs, GE Energy seeks to empower environmental managers with comprehensive and customisable air quality solutions that simultaneously reduce emissions and optimise the performance and profitability of a power generation process. Our pollution preventive approach is backed by over 100 years of experience and a broad portfolio of technologies that can be tailored to help meet current and future air quality requirements in the Middle East. We are also proud to be at the forefront in developing intelligent technologies which utilise, but protect our natural resources," said Isam Moursy, a General Manager for GE Energy Services.

GE Energy, which also provides solutions for power generation and management, gas processing and transmission and plant and enterprise control, has showcased its range of control solutions and hardware for GE and non-GE turbines used by enterprises.
