January 17, 2004

Dubai, January 17, 2004: GE Medical Systems is showcasing its most comprehensive range of innovative products for the Middle East healthcare industry at Arab Health 2004, running from January 18-21 in Dubai. GE will be highlighting its dedicated women's healthcare solutions in addition to its expanded portfolio of advanced technologies designed to serve the full range of needs of the regional healthcare sector.

"This year, at Arab Health, we are demonstrating our biggest presence ever and are very excited about presenting our latest healthcare innovations which will revolutionise the Middle East healthcare facilities. Our participation is not only vital in reinforcing GE Medical Systems' position as one of the worldwide leader in medical information and technology, it also gives us the ideal platform to appeal to our customers and key decision-makers with the most comprehensive healthcare offering," said Alex McFarlane, Manager - Gulf Operations, GE Medical Systems.

GE's comprehensive range of advanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging technology (MRI) to be featured includes the Signa Ovation 0.35T, one of the most open scanners available offering greater access for clinicians and more room for patients. The first-of-its-kind MRI technology is now available in a Dubai clinic, making it the first installation in the Middle East and Africa region. GE's OpenSpeed, today available with the EXCITE technology, will enable hospitals and imaging centres to offer patients better image quality and more advanced diagnostic exams. EXCITE is the first end-to-end user redesign of data pipeline in MRI. The system's transmission, reception and processing components are optimised specifically to handle the higher volume of data in more advanced MRI studies. Its breakthrough technology represents the most significant MRI advancement in more than ten years.

With a strong focus on cancer care, GE is featuring its breakthrough computed tomography scanners (CT), including the LightSpeed RT, the world's first multi-slice, wide-bore CT system complete with a portfolio of advanced applications for radiotherapy. GE's innovative product portfolio also includes the latest mammography technology for cancer detection, including full-field digital systems, specifically developed to meet the special needs of radiation therapy planning.

GE Medical Systems continues to break new ground in the area of women's healthcare and will feature, among its latest technologies related to mammography, its full-field digital mammography system - the Seno 2000D and the new Seno Advantage workstation. This new workstation provides radiologists new multi-modality applications with access to over 30 applications and tools. In addition the Seno Advantage workstation can improve clinical productivity with faster connectivity speeds making the workflow process smoother and more automatic for the user. The new workstation provides a single access point to the most advanced breast cancer detection tools and images such as Digital Mammography, MRI, Ultrasound, Computer Aided Detection.

GE's solutions will also encompass the latest in ultrasound technology, including the Voluson 730 Expert. With its Real Time 4D technology, a physician or sonographer is able to perform a scan of an appropriate anatomy with the highest degree of precision, observing anatomy in motion while allowing patients to recognise what is being viewed inside their body.

In addition to GE's participation in the exhibition, GE is sponsoring several clinical seminars in conjunction with Arab Health. Dr. Lawrence Tanenbaum of Edison Imaging - JFK Medical Center in New Jersey, U.S.A. and a specialist in MRI, CT and neuroradiology, will address clinicians on diagnostic issues and share the latest techniques in MRI. Dr. David Burling of St. Mark's Hospital in the UK will also provide useful information on the latest in CT developments.

With the rapid development of the Middle East healthcare industry and the increasing focus on improving healthcare standards in the region, including the UAE, GE is taking part in the Arab Health exhibition with its strongest presence ever and demonstrating its commitment to customers by delivering revolutionary products and services.
