Washington, DC, December 10, 2007 -- The U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Tejpreet Singh Chopra, President and Chief Executive Officer of GE India, to its Board of Directors.
The U.S.-India Business Council is the premier business advocacy organization representing 260 of the largest U.S. companies investing in India, joined by two dozen of India's largest global companies. USIBC's mandate is to strengthen U.S.-India commercial ties.

Tejpreet Singh Chopra took the position of President & CEO, GE India in June 2007, and is responsible for directing GE's strategies for growth in the country. Having held various business roles in France, England, Hong Kong, India and USA, Mr. Chopra brings considerable management and global finance experience to this position.
Prior to assuming his current role, Mr. Chopra served as the President & CEO of GE Commercial Finance in India, where he successfully restructured and expanded the business thereby establishing GE Commercial Finance as one of the premier financial institutions in India. A ten-year GE veteran, Tejpreet Singh Chopra has held positions in marketing, structured finance and risk management, in Stamford and Hong Kong for GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS).
Mr. Chopra is a member of the National Council of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and on the National Executive Board of the American Chamber of Commerce in India (AMCHAM).

In July 2005, GE announced a reorganization of its businesses into six industry-focused groups: GE Infrastructure; GE Commercial Financial Services; GE Industrial; NBC Universal; GE Healthcare; and GE Consumer Finance.
