WILMINGTON, N.C.---May 24, 2010---With the world's increasing concerns about climate change and the rising demand for energy, nuclear energy is enjoying a global resurgence as one of the few available, virtually non-carbon emitting sources of electricity. In order to continue the momentum and build off its success in the nuclear industry under Jack Fuller's excellent leadership, GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) has announced an organizational change that will provide additional leadership during this critical time.
The current role of GEH's Chairman of the Board and President & CEO will be split into two positions, effective July 5. Fuller will remain as Chairman of the Board, and Caroline Reda will become President & CEO.

"Taking on the daily operations of the business is Caroline Reda, who has spent many years in our nuclear organization. Her leadership experience across the company makes her a superb candidate to continue our momentum in the nuclear space."
In her 17 years with GE's nuclear business, Reda held leadership roles in new product introduction, quality and plant operations, including serving as chief operating officer for Global Nuclear Fuel Americas.
For the last five years, Reda served as president & CEO of GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies, a global business unit with 4,300 employees that designs and manufacturers sensing and non-destructive testing equipment for numerous industries, including the nuclear energy sector.
She has also served in GE's energy services business as president & CEO of GE Energy Parts and president & general manager of GE Energy Rentals.
Reda earned a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a Master's degree in industrial engineering from North Carolina State University. She and her family will relocate to Wilmington, NC.
