GE highlights career opportunities and leadership

Dubai, UAE; March 23, 2011: GE (NYSE: GE) is highlighting career opportunities for young graduates and professionals in several high-growth sectors such as energy, aviation, healthcare, water and financial services through its participation in Careers UAE 2011.

At the premier recruitment, education and training exhibition, which started on March 21 and continues through March 23 at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Center, GE highlights career opportunities within the organisation in these key sectors, which are vital in driving the social and economic welfare of the region.

Nabil Habayeb, GE's President & CEO for the Middle East & Africa region, said: "Today, with the Middle East's focus on infrastructure development, new career opportunities are emerging for the youth segment, which comprises some 65 percent of the region's total population. With an annual investment of US$1 billion in employee training and development, GE is focused on creating a strong talent pool of professionals.

At Careers UAE 2011, GE demonstrates its proven excellence in leadership development programs and training courses. Among the key programs that enable employees to accomplish their full potential and evolve personally and professionally are the Edison Engineering Development Program, Financial Management Program, Communications Leadership Development Program, Commercial Leadership Program, Field Engineering Program, HR Leadership Program and Experienced Commercial Leadership Program.

The importance of innovation as an overall growth driver is underscored in the recent GE Global Innovation Barometer report, based on an independent survey of 1,000 business executives in 12 countries, including Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Ninety-five percent of the respondents globally said innovation is the main lever for a more competitive national economy, and 88 percent agreed that innovation is the best way to create jobs in their country.

As part of its student outreach, GE also conducts specialized workshops for students in Middle East universities. The company has organised specialized workshops at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon; American University of Sharjah in the UAE and the University of Bahrain. The topics covered include operational aspects of GE as well as self-development programmes for the students including resume writing, interview skills and job search.

With its regional headquarters in Dubai, GE has wide geographic base with 17 ground facilities in 8 countries in the Middle East, and over 2,000 employees.

At Careers UAE, senior professionals from the company and HR managers will interact with the visitors providing them an overview of the company, its operations and career opportunities.
