ISTANBUL, TURKEY---March 6, 2012---GE (NYSE: GE) will supply long-term services and an equipment upgrade to increase the output and availability of a cogeneration power plant owned by electricity generating company Camis Elektrik Uretim A. S., of Mersin, Turkey. The enhanced performance will help the plant meet an increased demand for power to support the region's economic growth.
GE has signed contracts totaling nearly $20 million to provide maintenance and outage services for a new GE Frame 9E Gas Turbine for 10 years and to upgrade an existing GE Frame 9E Gas Turbine at the plant, which will boost the output of the unit by 2.3 percent.
The new equipment and the upgrade will improve the performance and availability of the units, which will help reduce the cost of maintenance, fuel consumption and the risk of power shortage scenarios in the region, especially in peak periods. Specifically, the upgrade of the older unit will include a combustion hardware extendor system that will increase maintenance intervals from 12,000 to 24,000 hours, advanced abradable coating, brush seals and control curve modification.
The GE solution will enable Camis to be more competitive in its market through greater efficiency, improved capacity and reduced operational costs. Using gas turbine exhaust gases to produce process steam, instead of wasting that energy, will help drive lower costs for Camis' production facilities and improve its growth potential in the market.
The new service agreement builds on Camis' relationship with GE, which included the initial supply of the gas turbines, and a previous service agreement for one of the plant's units.

Camis' two GE Frame 9E Gas Turbines entered commercial operation in 2006 and 2009, respectively, each producing 125 megawatts of power. The upgrade project will result in the most advanced configurations available for this class of gas turbine.
GE's long-term service agreements are structured to provide customers with predictable maintenance costs while ensuring a steady flow of revenue from power plant operations. To date, GE has long-term agreements in place at more than 700 sites worldwide.
The service agreement with Camis further expands GE's growing presence in Turkey. After establishing a regional sales office in Istanbul in the early 1990s, GE has been very active in the Turkish power generation market. To date, GE has supplied equipment for power plants that are operating or under construction in Turkey totaling more than 10,000 megawatts. Those installations include heavy duty and aeroderivative gas turbines, steam turbines, Jenbacher gas engines and wind turbines.
