Press Release

GE Healthcare to highlight latest innovations

March 13, 2012

Jordan, Amman; March 14, 2012: GE Healthcare, the healthcare business of GE (NYSE: GE), will showcase its newest solutions and innovative technologies that will enhance the performance of the healthcare sector and improve operational efficiencies, at Medhealth 2012 to be held from March 14 to 15 at Le Royal Hotel Amman.

Building further on the theme of the exhibition, 'Healthcare today and discovering solutions to the toughest professional challenges,' GE is also taking part in the Health Management & Nursing Program, where Dr. Manar A Al-Moneef, Managing Director, Imagination Breakthrough - GE in the Middle East & Pakistan, will share insights on 'new solutions for improving the healthcare sector.'

Dr. Al-Moneef will highlight GE's healthymagination initiative -- a commitment to help reduce the cost of healthcare while increasing access and improving quality. This approach is of far-reaching value for the Middle East region, which faces the twin challenges of rising healthcare bills and increase in lifestyle diseases.

Elie Chahoud, General Manager -- Levant, GE Healthcare, said: "Medhealth 2012 is putting the spotlight on innovation in healthcare to address the pressing challenges. Through our participation, we are underlining the importance of an earlier model of healthcare delivery, where the focus is on earlier diagnosis, backed by our commitment to localized innovation, R&D and training. Over the past years, GE has introduced a diverse portfolio of diagnostic products and healthcare solutions that have supported hospitals in Jordan and the wider region to improve their operational efficiencies."

Jordan is one of the key markets for GE Healthcare in the Middle East and North Africa region, where the company has established leading public and private sector partnerships that are aimed at bringing the latest in healthcare technologies to people and reducing the growing costs.

GE Healthcare launched its groundbreaking Optima* CT660, a Computed Tomography (CT) product in Jordan a few years ago. The product was both GE ecomagination certified and healthymagination validated, which are two of GE's global initiatives aimed at transforming healthcare delivery via innovation, partnerships and sustainability.

GE provides its healthcare technologies to several leading medical organizations in Jordan including Jordan Hospital, Al Hayat Hospital and Al Essra Hospital. Most recently, GE signed an agreement with Gardens Hospital to provide its latest Optima* MR360 1.5 Tesla that can help improve imaging productivity and the high-performance Innova* IGS 530 interventional X-ray platform.
