- Signed agreement announced at Arab Health 2010 in Dubai
- Highlights GE's healthymagination initiative of lowering healthcare costs through earlier diagnosis and treatment
Dubai, UAE; January 27, 2010: GE Healthcare, the healthcare business of General Electric Company (GE), has announced a strategic agreement with Jordan Hospital, a premier healthcare provider in Amman, Jordan, to equip the hospital with the latest diagnostic equipment solutions including the Kingdom's first-ever high definition computed tomography (CT) diagnostic equipment -- the Discovery CT750 HD - and Signa 1.5T HDxT magnetic resonance (MR) system.
The agreement comes at a significant time as Jordan takes concerted initiatives to boost its healthcare sector with a special focus on promoting medical tourism by offering world-class technologies through both private and public sector action plans.
The deal also builds on GE Healthcare's 'healthymagination' approach that is aimed at helping patients live longer, healthier lives by lowering costs, touching more lives and improving quality of healthcare delivery worldwide.
Elie Chahoud, Country Manager of GE Healthcare Levant and Dr Abdulla Al-Bashir, General Director of Jordan Hospital announced the signed agreement, today, at Arab Health, the leading healthcare exhibition ongoing through January 28, 2010, at the Dubai International Convention Center.
As per the agreement, GE Healthcare will also provide advanced fluoroscopy systems for Jordan Hospital in addition to upgrading the medical center's existing MR system, thus bringing in unprecedented diagnostic capabilities to Jordan.
Elie Chahoud said: "GE Healthcare has been partnering with Jordan Hospital for several years now providing advanced diagnostic solutions. The new agreement will further promote Jordan Hospital's positioning as the premier healthcare provider in the Kingdom, and also strengthen its objective of boosting medical tourism, one of the key growth areas targeted by the hospital."
Dr Abdulla Al-Bashir said: "Jordan Hospital provides world-class treatment to our patients by leveraging the latest in healthcare solutions. The new addition of technologies from GE Healthcare makes us a truly premier healthcare provider in Jordan with the highest diagnostic capabilities. This will help us address patient needs, not only those from Jordan but neighboring countries too."
GE's advanced CT diagnostic equipment - the Discovery CT750 HD - delivers fine detail and repeatable outcomes -- with up to 50 percent less dose for patients of all ages. The MR products will improve the ability of the hospital to tend to more patients with fewer scans, helps boost efficiency and makes scheduling more predictable.
GE Healthcare is the Platinum Sponsor of the exhibition and the Commercial Gold supporter of three key conferences on Anesthesia, Molecular Imaging & Nuclear Medicine and Middle East Imaging and Diagnostics, being held on the sidelines of the event.
