GXS Will Help Max Bahr to Trade With Up to 200 Small Suppliers Electronically by the End of the Year
GE Global eXchange Services (GXS), a leader in business-to-business Internet commerce, today announced that it is working with Max Bahr, a leading German home improvement retail chain to enable up to 200 small suppliers to trade with the company electronically using a Web browser.
Web-based transaction services from GXS are designed to help Max Bahr reduce costs and increase supply chain efficiency.
As part of Max Bahr's goal of enabling its entire trading community to exchange documents with the company electronically, GXS is providing suppliers with access to GE TradeWeb(SM). This multi-lingual service allows smaller suppliers to use a Web browser to easily send and receive forms-based documents, such as purchase orders and invoices, without requiring investment in additional software.
Smaller suppliers will be able to exchange messages with larger EDI enabled Retail partners at low cost. Other services for Max Bahr include client implementation services - to help Max Bahr successfully implement electronic document exchange with individual trading community members.
"In the fast-paced and highly competitive home improvement industry, supply chain e-commerce is an important tool for enhancing customer satisfaction," said Thomas Heinitz - Leader Purchasing and Category Management, Max Bahr. "Solutions such as GE TradeWeb help us to work with our suppliers more efficiently, enabling us to better serve a wide range of home improvement industry clients."
"Enabling electronic messaging across the entire trading community - small as well as large suppliers - is vital to maximizing supply chain efficiency and cost savings," said Steven Scala, vice president of marketing for GXS. "We are very pleased that a home improvement leader in Germany such as Max Bahr is using GXS solutions to help them expand their e-business program, resulting in increased customer benefits."
