Penney Corporation, Inc. and its Eckerd Corporation drugstore subsidiary on future supply chain e-business initiatives.
GXS will enable J.C. Penney and Eckerd to transact electronically with suppliers and supply chain partners, including access to GXS's trading partner network and product data catalog containing nearly 60 million line items.
GXS will also provide Web-based community enablement capabilities, allowing small and mid-sized suppliers to trade more cost-effectively with J.C. Penney and Eckerd using the Internet or private networks. These capabilities include:
-- Network-Based Translation - enabling proprietary data extracted from suppliers' back-office systems to be sent to J.C. Penney and Eckerd in electronic data interchange (EDI) or eXtensible Markup Language (XML) format -- GE TradeWeb(SM) - forms-based electronic document exchange in multiple languages -- Net Community Manager - enabling suppliers to do their own document testing and certification using a Web browser
