GE Global eXchange Services Honored With eAI Journal's First 'Exceptional Achievement' Award; GXS Recognized for Exceptional Performance in Annual eAI Journal Awards

September 17, 2002

GAITHERSBURG, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 17, 2002--GE Global eXchange Services (GXS), a leader in business-to-business Internet commerce, today announced that it is a winner of the 2002 Exceptional Achievement Award from eAI Journal, a global publication in e-business and application integration.
The 2002 Exceptional Achievement Awards recognize outstanding overall performance in the eAI Journal awards program. GXS is one of only four companies to qualify for this prestigious award.
"The Exceptional Achievement Awards are the highest honor eAI Journal bestows," said Tony M. Brown, editor-in-chief of eAI Journal. "They are awarded in perpetuity to vendors that have performed consistently well in our very influential annual awards, which recognize excellence in software for e-business, application integration and Web services. As the annual awards are judged by an independent panel of top industry analysts, the composition of which differs each year, the Exceptional Achievement Awards are not easy to win. They recognize the best of the best. Only four software vendors have qualified for an Exceptional Achievement Award to date."
"We are proud that eAI Journal, a widely respected publication in our field, has chosen GXS for this honor," said Steven Scala, GXS's vice president of marketing. "The recognition highlights our passion for partnering with customers to create unique e-business solutions specifically designed to help them achieve their key business objectives."
The new Exceptional Achievement Award is bestowed only when an organization meets strict criteria, based on an exceptional level of performance in the annual eAI Journal awards. To be eligible for an Exceptional Achievement Award, an organization must have:
1) Been placed, at least once, in 1st position in a category of the
annual eAI Journal Awards
2) Been placed, at least a further two times, in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in
a category of the annual eAI Journal Awards
3) Achieved (1) and (2) in at least two separate annual eAI Journal
Awards i.e. have won or been placed in a category in more than one
year.
GXS has been awarded a top three ranking in the eAI Journal Awards three years in a row. In 2000, GXS was awarded second place for "Best e-Business Solution" for its work with Value America. In 2001, GXS captured first place in the same category for its work with FedEx Corp. This year, GXS garnered third place in the "Best B2B Solution Category" in recognition of its solution for Allegiance Healthcare. GXS was also the only company in 2002 to earn two of the six "contender" slots in a single award category for its work with both Allegiance Healthcare and Eastman Kodak.
