GE Gas Turbine Selected for Expansion of Cogeneration Plant in Germany

DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY (May 6, 2003) --- GE Power Systems will supply a gas turbine-generator to Lurgi Energie und Entsorgung GmbH (www.lurgi-lentjes.de) of Ratingen, Germany for an expansion of a cogeneration plant in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
The Heizkraft Werk Niederrad plant is owned by Mainova AG, a provider of services for district heating, water supply, power supply and waste disposal for the municipality. GE is providing a Frame 6B gas turbine-generator that will contribute 42 megawatts to an overall plant expansion of 77 megawatts. All of the power will be used in the Mainova Distribution System and the exhaust heat will be transformed to hot water for district heating.
The gas turbine will be manufactured at GE Power Systems' facility in Belfort, France, will be shipped to the project site in March of 2004, and is scheduled to begin commercial operation by the beginning of 2005. The Frame 6B will use natural gas and will be equipped with a GE Dry Low NO
