Tour Highlighted By Demonstration of Automation Projects in UAE; Executive Announces Upcoming GE Fanuc Innovation Day

DUBAI, UAE; SEPTEMBER 25, 2008 - Maryrose Sylvester, President and CEO of GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, a unit of GE Enterprise Solutions, visited Dubai to review the progress of work at various sites in UAE first hand. GE Fanuc's automation technology is being applied in a number of prestigious projects in Dubai for infrastructure automation including water/wastewater, district cooling, transportation and power in facilities in Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Metro, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai International Airport, and Robotic Parking Systems.

"Dubai, today, has some of the most innovative and sizeable projects in the world," said Sylvester. "These projects reflect the vision of the city's leaders to make an international imprint through architectural, construction and infrastructure best practices. These initiatives require reliable, open and scalable technologies that are aligned to the sustainable developmental goals outlined by Dubai's leaders. GE Fanuc's cutting edge competencies in advanced infrastructure management are ideally suited to meet the requirements of these innovative projects.

"GE Fanuc has an active presence in the region for more than a decade and is constantly innovating to meet the challenges of the new growth dynamic," she added.

The project in Palm Jumeirah involves the control and automation of the reverse osmosis desalination plant, sewage treatment plant, district cooling plant and the associated networks and integration plans for enterprise level reporting and information sharing.

Sylvester's visit included site tours and meetings, as well as direct interaction with the teams involved in the project execution.

"The team is excited to demonstrate the successful execution of these prestigious projects," said Joseph Davis, GE Fanuc Regional Manager, Gulf. "We have an excellent network of highly experienced GE Fanuc professionals, solution providers and OEMs that have shown an outstanding level of commitment to customer satisfaction."

Davis indicated that further expansion of the support network team is underway in the region.

The company's capabilities will be further highlighted at the Innovation Days to be held by GE Fanuc, November 5 and 6, in Dubai. "Innovation Days are an ideal platform for all stakeholders in the region to see, share and learn about the best practices in automation and production management technology from experts who are pioneers in this area."
