Vibration Suppression Improves Surface Finish and Reduced Cycle Times
Chicago, IL, September 11, 2008 GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, a unit of GE Enterprise Solutions, today, announced its Smooth Tool Center Point (TCP) control to enable smooth motion while in TCP mode. The product will be demonstrated at Booth A-8418 of IMTS 2008 being held at Chicago's McCormick Place, September 8 -- 13, 2008.
Smooth TCP enables extremely smooth motion and reduced cycle time during 5-axis machining processes using tool center point control. Smooth TCP removes redundant program command points generated by tool center point control automatically and compensates the direction of tool posture to enable smooth motion of the rotary axis. This is effective in reducing vibration in the velocity command to the servo system resulting in smooth surface finish.
"Smooth TCP removes redundant command points in TCP and compensates the tool posture for rotary axis," said Paul Webster, CNC Product Manager for GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms. "The result is vibration suppression that improves surface finish and reduced cycle times of up to 44%."
The Smooth Tool Center Point Control features reduced cycle time and improved surface finish, which translate to high productivity and high accuracy.
