GE Fanuc Embedded Systems To Demonstrate Range of Sonar Solutions At UDT Europe

May 22, 2007

Poster Paper Will Describe Recently-Announced daqNet Acoustic Acquisition Server

UDT EuropeBooth 50

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--At this year's UDT Europe undersea defence technology conference and exhibition (Napoli, Italy -- 5 -- 7 June), GE Fanuc Embedded Systems will describe and demonstrate the company's broadening range of rugged data acquisition and signal processing solutions that have exceptional applicability to sonar applications.

Located at booth 50, the company will demonstrate the recently-announced daqNet acoustic acquisition server, together with a powerful, flexible, multiprocessor computing solution designed specifically for maximum performance in back end signal processing applications. Visitors will also be able to find out more about GE Fanuc Embedded Systems' ground-breaking AXIS software environment which is designed to speed and simplify the development and deployment of sophisticated signal processing applications.

"The UDT Forum has always provided an excellent opportunity for us to meet with the undersea defence community, discuss its evolving requirements and demonstrate the solutions we are able to offer to some of the world's most demanding problems," said John Umney, Director of International Sales for GE Fanuc Embedded Systems. "This year, we have some exciting capabilities to show, including the innovative daqNet autonomous high-speed acoustic acquisition server that is ideal for today's network-centric environment."

Also featured at the conference will be a paper, delivered by Dan Veenstra of GE Fanuc Embedded Systems. The release earlier this year of the 'acoustic server', dubbed daqNet, marked the introduction of a new style of acquisition product specifically designed to significantly simplify the task of integrating an acquisition system (the first product of its type to become available on the market). Dan Veenstra's poster session will take place in the exhibition hall on Wednesday, June 6th at 12:30pm and will highlight the key advances that this type of product offers.

Over a number of years, GE Fanuc Embedded Systems has become the premier choice for naval fleets around the world. Present with thousands of sensors on over 400 vessels -- including the US Navy's Virginia class submarine - and deployed in such major programs as SQQ-89, SeaWolf and the ARCI modernization effort, the company can reasonably claim to have been the leading supplier of COTS-based sonar solutions for over two decades.
