GE Fanuc Embedded Systems Announces $18.2 Million Long-term Production Contract Extension From Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems

August 09, 2007

PPC4A SBC and G4DSP Quad Processor selected again for MK48 and MK54 Torpedo production

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Once again providing evidence of the industry-leading nature of its products, GE Fanuc Embedded Systems today announced that the company had secured an $18.2 million extension to an existing Long Term Agreement (LTA) from Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (IDS).

GE Fanuc Embedded Systems is to provide its PPC4A single board computer and G4DSP rugged digital quad signal processor for use in the latest phase of the MK48 Common Broadband Analog Sonar System (CBASS) Torpedo and MK54 Lightweight Torpedo programs, which are joint development efforts between Raytheon IDS and the US Navy. This most recent award brings the total value of orders received on this program to over $56.0 million.

"We are delighted to receive this latest expression of confidence from Raytheon, not just in our products but in the support we have provided over a number of years for this prestigious program," said Peter Cavill, General Manager, Military and Aerospace Products at GE Fanuc Embedded Systems. "Our relationship with Raytheon is one that we value very highly, and we look forward to it continuing to prosper for many years to come."

The MK48 torpedo is the US Navy's premier heavyweight submarine-launched torpedo and is widely recognized as the world's most capable anti-submarine weapon. The MK48 CBASS is a wire-guided torpedo launched through the full submarine's depth and speed profile. The MK54 is a free swimming torpedo launched from rotary and fixed wing aircraft, and surface ships.
