Discover Award Winners Achieve Results With Automation Technologies
GE Fanuc Discover 2007 Users Conference

ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Industry-leading companies joined GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, a unit of GE Enterprise Solutions, at its third annual GE Fanuc Discover 2007 Users Conference, October 23-25, 2007 in St. Louis, Missouri. Customers were honored at the event with the Discovery Awards, symbols of GE's corporate philosophy, "imagination at work."

The conference, with more than 650 attendees, included end users, OEMs and systems integrators, and focused on solutions to help users increase productivity, maximize efficiency and raise quality standards to unprecedented new levels. Land Rover, GE Energy, Proctor & Gamble, Nissan North America, and Novartis Pharmaceuticals anchored the program emphasizing real-world solution discussions. A broad range of training was available in hands-on workshops with products ranging from controllers to production management software to motion control and machine control.

GE Senior Vice President and CIO Gary Reiner was the keynote speaker on the first night of the conference. Mr. Reiner leads the GE information technology, sourcing and Lean Six Sigma efforts company-wide. As overseer of this effort Mr. Reiner discussed how a company as large as GE does business in a truly global economy, and how GE implements Lean techniques to make a difference in the profitability and viability of product in varying businesses in multiple markets around the world.

"Automation users face many challenges in running their operations efficiently and profitably," said Maryrose Sylvester, president and CEO of GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms. "We work with organizations on all aspects of their automation processes through automation technologies that positively affect their businesses. The organizations we honor today typify 'imagination at work,' a core GE philosophy."

Included in the GE Fanuc Discovery Award recipients are:

* Alstom Power -- Provided a complete system solution to their customer that was easier to maintain and less expensive to operate than other vendors. The customer achieved increased reliability and efficiency achieving nearly 100% uptime.
* Eka Chemicals -- A global, corporate production and supply management application that provides one uniform interface throughout the organization to optimize and integrate production, supply chain and unique chemical management services.
* Land Rover -- Managing seven sequenced production facilities with 6,000 associates Just-In-Time. Controls orders, order amendments, parts allocation, job sequencing and more in a real-time discrete production process. This system enabled the exiting of a legacy system that required a declining specialized skill set.
* Mittal Steel -- Reflective memory connection to level two computer systems used as a gateway for operational information. This solution provides effective troubleshooting in the mill, easy to use diagnostic information, decreased downtime, as well as a cost-effective solution.
* NEC Electronics America, Inc. -- Constantly upgrading and improving production processes demanded a system whereby changes could be easily monitored and tracked. Proficy Change Management allowed this customer to reduce and quickly recover from downtime, as well as experience less waste of sensitive product materials.
* Techsol -- An unmanned machinery space (UMS) application using a GE Fanuc control system supplies a complete turnkey solution to operate an entire ship engine room. This modular system provides for greater flexibility, decreased labor requirements, zero false alarms, fast troubleshooting and easy integration.
* Toll Brothers -- This company utilized the GE Fanuc Professional Services team to implement a flexible HMI-based solution that provides more choices and freedom in the production process. The customer has realized decreased operating costs, the ability to link to multiple CAD systems and increased flexibility in the design and production process.
* World Kitchen, LLC - A Production Management system was implemented at this company to control two distinct manufacturing areas on 15 production lines. World Kitchen needed information and data retrieval to support business decisions.

"GE Fanuc is pleased to honor these great companies with Discover Awards," continued Sylvester. "And, we look forward to working with them more in the future."
