A 'Center of Excellence' Service Hub for the Americas
HOUSTON, TEXAS - April 30, 2007 :- Combining quality and industry-leading technology expertise with faster turnaround times for customers throughout the region is the mission of a new GE Oil & Gas Service Center for the Americas, now operating in Houston.
GE Oil & Gas recently acquired the assets of the former Preco service center from GE Energy, which had operated the site as a gas turbine repair facility since 2002, with a focus on the power generation industry. Now, the center is totally dedicated to the oil and gas sector and offers a broad range of support activities throughout North and South America.
GE Oil & Gas is leveraging the existing capabilities of the service center to meet the diverse requirements of customers in the oil and gas sector. The range of equipment supported by the facility includes all makes and sizes of turbomachinery for the oil and gas and refinery sectors, including gas and steam turbines, expanders, multi-stage centrifugal pumps, and centrifugal and reciprocating compressors.
The center's capabilities also include component repair and coating, blasting, metallurgy lab, rotor build and balancing, full machining and a vacuum furnace. The site also serves as the operation center for the GE Oil & Gas Field Services team.

Approximately 100 people are employed at the center, which is located at 17619 Aldine Westfield Road in Houston.
