GE Executive Presents $25,000 Contribution to Local Drug Rehabilitation Program
MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 1, 2003--
GE Energy Services President and CEO Ricardo Artigas today presented a $25,000 donation from GE to Nuevo Caminar, a nonprofit organization that rehabilitates drug addicts and provides a support structure to the addicts' affected family members. Artigas was a 2003 recipient of the GE-sponsored Chairman's Leadership Award, which included a $25,000 contribution to a charity of his choice. He received the award from GE Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Immelt earlier this year. Artigas, who serves on the board of directors of Nuevo Caminar, chose to donate the entire amount to that organization. Today's ceremony took place at the Casa Juancho Restaurant in Miami and was sponsored by GE Power Systems' Hispanic Forum. The ceremony honored Nuevo Caminar, which boasts a success rate significantly greater than the national average of 10 percent. Nuevo Caminar is a volunteer organization that relies solely on financial and in-kind contributions. Nuevo Caminar is a charity close to my heart and I couldn't have thought of a better organization to receive $25,000 from the Chairman's Leadership Award, said Artigas. We are extremely honored to receive this generous contribution from GE, said Ramon Cabrera, Director of Nuevo Caminar. We believe that through a special combination of love mixed with spiritual and therapeutic techniques, addicts can overcome their addictions. This donation will go a long way in helping Nuevo Caminar realize our mission.
