GE ERC Names Sales Executives for Direct Reinsurance

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--Aug. 23, 2004--GE's Employers Reinsurance Corporation (GE ERC)(NYSE:GE) today announced that Tim Brophy, Joseph Cook and Paul Giacobbe have joined the company as Sales Executives for its Americas Direct property & casualty reinsurance unit. They will report to Jeffrey Archer, who heads the company's Americas Direct treaty origination team.

Tim has exceptional experience in new account development and customer relationship management, said Archer. And Joe and Paul will bring the energy, enthusiasm and technical expertise to continue to build on the success of the Americas Direct team.

Bringing these professionals to ERC is further evidence of our commitment to delivering practical risk solutions that our customers need to succeed, said Bill O'Donnell, President of GE ERC's Americas Direct business unit.

Brophy is rejoining ERC and previously served the company in a new business origination role from 2000 until late 2003. Most recently he was Senior Vice President of Willis Re, where he focused on new business development in the southeastern United States.

Brophy began his career in reinsurance at Guy Carpenter & Co. New York in 1982, and ultimately became Senior Vice President in its San Francisco office before joining ERC in 2000. He holds a Bachelors degree in Journalism from the University of South Carolina.

Cook joins ERC from American Re, where he has served for 17 years, most recently in the role of Vice President / Direct Treaty Account Executive. His past work experience included new account development and customer relationship management.

Cook holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Presbyterian College. He has also earned the Associate in Reinsurance designation from the American Institute of Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriters.

Giacobbe joins ERC from Swiss Re, where he held a number of positions in sales leadership for regional and specialty products as well as capital market solutions. He began his career at Munich Re and has worked with several leading reinsurers in increasing levels of responsibility for developing client solutions and customer relationship management.

Giacobbe holds a Bachelors degree in Insurance from The College of Insurance as well as the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation (CPCU) as well as the Associate in Reinsurance designation (ARe) from the American Institute of Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriters.
