GE ERC Donates PC Equipment to Indianapolis Community Centers; 14 Centers to Gain Access to Personal Computers OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 13, 2002--GE's Employers Reinsurance Corporation (GE ERC) is making a donation of personal computers to 14 community centers in the Indianapolis area.
GE ERC, which employs 57 people in its Indianapolis offices, recently upgraded its systems and wanted to ensure that its replaced computers and monitors went to a deserving cause. The computers will be donated to The Community Centers of Indianapolis, where they'll be used for computer instruction for young people and for people seeking employment.
GE ERC has enjoyed a strong relationship with the United Way, and through their excellent network of contacts we are able to donate these computers to the most appropriate local recipients, said Michael Barnett, U.S. Life Leader, Global Life and Health Unit. The Community Centers of Indianapolis is a great organization which shares our focus of helping those in need in our local communities.
Our Centers served more than 39,000 different individuals last year with programs and services that promote self-sufficiency, said Bonnie Jones, Executive Director of Community Centers of Indianapolis, Inc. The generosity of GE ERC enables our centers to more effectively carry out their mission.
