GE ERC Announces Senior Appointments to Grow Global Life and Health Operations OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 9, 2002--Leading reinsurer GE ERC today announced four leadership appointments within its Global Life and Health operations.
Tony O'Leary will assume the role of Regional Leader, Asia-Pacific region, including Australia and India. His primary objective will be to focus on the strategic issues relating to expanding ERC's business in the larger markets of Asia. As a world-recognized leader in life underwriting and, most recently, as the leader of ERC's UK and Western European business unit, O'Leary brings a record of significant contribution and consistent results.
Colin Pakshong, whose extensive knowledge of the Asian markets and customers has enabled him to lead the Asian team through a period of significant growth, will report directly to O'Leary. He will focus on the local implementation of strategy, especially in markets where ERC is already established.
Lee Lovett will assume the leadership role for the UK business unit, where his responsibilities will include the UK, UK offshore, Ireland, Israel and the Middle East. Lovett has held several positions within the UK operation, functioning most recently as the leader for the Continental European and Israeli business. His deep understanding of the local markets and customers will ensure consistency and stability, along with innovation in the marketplace.
Alberto Izaga will lead the newly formed Western and Southern European business unit, which includes operations in Scandinavia, France, Spain, Italy and Greece. Izaga will leave his current role as Vice President of Business Development for GE ERC to take up his new position from February 1, 2002.
Making the announcement, John Tiller, CEO, GE ERC Global Life and Health, said: Today, we serve over 900 customers in 82 countries around the world. Europe and Asia are large and diverse areas, with markets in various stages of development, each requiring a different focus and service. We believe that dividing our European business units and expanding our efforts in Asia will allow us to better focus on the unique needs of each of these markets.
