GE Engine Services Awarded $26 Million Maintenance Agreement By J-AIR Corporation

January 27, 2003

January 27, 2003 -- Evendale, Ohio - GE Engine Services (GEES) has been awarded a $26 million, 10-year maintenance agreement by J-AIR to maintain the carrier's CF34 engines powering its fleet of four Bombardier CRJ200 regional jets.
Under terms of the agreement, GEES will perform engine maintenance under GE's Maintenance Cost Per Hoursm (MCPHsm) program. The program uses GE Engine Services' maintenance network, engineering resources, and program management expertise to maintain an individual customer's fleet based on a flat rate per engine flight hour, enabling the customer to forecast operating costs with greater accuracy.
"We look forward to continuing our relationship with Japan Airlines through this new agreement with J-AIR," said Dan Heintzelman, president and chief executive officer for GE Engine Services. "Since launching the program, more than 40 customers have selected GE's MCPH customized solution to complement core competencies and optimize cash and asset efficiency."
In July 2000, Japan Airlines signed a 10-year agreement for GE Engine Services Malaysia Sdn Bhd. to maintain and overhaul the CFM56-3C1 engines that power a fleet of 737-400s operated by a JAL subsidiary, Japan TransOcean Air (JTA).
J-AIR is a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan Airlines Company, Ltd.
