TECHNOLOGY AT OIL AND GAS CONFERENCE IN QATAR
DOHA, QATAR -- March 4, 2005 -- GE Energy's oil and gas business is highlighting its industry-leading technologies for natural gas and LNG applications at the 5th Doha Conference on Natural Gas
Solutions offered by GE Energy cover a wide range of industry requirements, including enhanced LNG production, advanced technology for the petrochemical industries and advances in gas-to-liquid (GTL) technology, in addition to a wide range of technical trainings.
One of the key technology areas being showcased is GE's development of the world's largest compression trains, to provide unprecedented levels of LNG production. These "super-trains" are driven by GE Frame 9 gas turbines, marking the first applications of these 120-megawatt class gas turbines in LNG service.
GE Energy also is developing large-scale compression trains to help drive down the cost of new GTL plants."The development of GTL is a commercially attractive and clean way of delivering natural gas to market," said Claudi Santiago, president and CEO of GE Energy's oil and gas business. "With our experience and capabilities to design and manufacture complete, multi-product solutions and services, GE Energy is supporting all phases of the GTL and the LNG industries worldwide."
GE Energy's oil and gas business is headquartered in Florence, Italy, the home of Nuovo Pignone, a long-time global leader in gas compression and turbo generation products. GE acquired Nuovo Pignone in 1994 and since then has continued to expand its oil and gas business by acquiring or developing partnerships with other technology and experience leaders in the industry.
