Dubai, UAE; July 2, 2007: GE Energy, one of six major divisions of the General Electric Company, hosted its annual Plant Optimization and Control (OC) Users Conference in Dubai with discussions centred on 'Unlocking the Potential -- the Future of Asset Management.'
Seventy-five delegates representing 38 companies from nine countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the UK and Egypt, attended the three-day event. Presentations and case studies included plant system users, product line developments, interactive workshops, technology exhibitions, live demos and reliability business cases. This was the second OC Users Conference to be held in the region and was expanded this year to include significant Controls content on the agenda.
GE's integrated turbine and compressor control (ITCC) offering was highlighted on the second day with Dr Naum Staroselsky, founder of Compressor Controls Corporation addressing the attendees on the subject of compressor antisurge and performance control. His presentation focused on the key elements for advanced compressor surge protection and the benefits of integrating it with the prime mover control. He concluded his remarks advocating GE's ITCC solution methodology used today for both new and retrofit applications.
