GE Energy Announces New Product for the LM2500/PGT25 Aeroderivative Gas Turbines

January 29, 2007

FLORENCE, ITALY - January 29, 2007 : -- GE Energy's aeroderivative business has announced a new upgrade for LM2500 and PGT25 gas turbines. Named the LM2500 XTEND™, the new upgrade kit leverages sophisticated system reliability and engine life modeling, improved material cooling techniques and single crystal alloys to reduce maintenance costs and eliminate outages for the LM2500 engine family.

Specifically designed for LM2500 base-rated engines operating on gas fuel (with SAC combustor and no NOx reduction), the XTEND eliminates the 25,000-hour hot section maintenance interval with a patents-pending upgrade to the high-pressure turbine (HPT), combustor and fuel nozzles.

"Eliminating the need for the 25,000-hour hot section repair interval by installing the new XTEND upgrade saves our LM2500/ PGT25 base engine customers up to USD$3 million in maintenance costs and avoided downtime," said Charles (Chip) Blankenship, general manager of GE Energy's aeroderivative division.

The production version of the XTEND will be available in June 2007. Customers can also purchase any of GE's variety of long-term service agreements with this product, including a fixed-price framework agreement or a fired-hour based contractual service agreement.

GE Energy's aeroderivative division is a leading supplier of aeroderivative gas turbines and packaged generator sets for industrial and marine applications. The company provides power-generating equipment to utilities, industries and marine fleets throughout the world. It is also one of the world's largest and most experienced aeroderivative gas turbine service providers.
