NORWALK, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 7, 2004--GE Commercial Finance's Global Media & Communications Technology business announced that it has named Jon Baird as vice president, origination. In this capacity, he will develop new client relationships on the West Coast, focusing on venture capital firms and developmental/growth stage technology-related companies.
Global Media & Communications' Technology team provides equipment and working capital debt to emerging growth companies backed by venture capitalists and other professional investors. The team's primary sector focuses include communications, information technology, software, hardware, semi-conductors, energy, logistics, and supply chain infrastructure.
Mr. Baird's 15 years of financial sector experience includes two years as managing director of Horizon Technology Finance and eight years as Western region marketing vice president for Meier Mitchell & Company/GATX Ventures, Inc., as well as positions with Sanwa Bank California and Wells Fargo Bank. While with Meier Mitchell & Company, he closed more than 130 transactions representing over $230 million in financing.
He earned a B.S. in Communication from the University of Arizona, Tucson.
