GE Chairman and CEO To Address ''ecomagination''

FAIRFIELD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 9, 2005--Today General Electric Company Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt will announce ecomagination, a GE initiative to aggressively bring to market new technologies that will help customers address pressing environmental challenges.

Mr. Immelt will deliver a 12:00 p.m. address at The George Washington University that includes the announcement of a company-wide commitment by GE to the environment, as well as an assessment of the roles of business, government and NGOs in solving global environmental challenges. World Resources Institute President Jonathan Lash will comment on GE's announcement and discuss the need for both private sector and public policy leadership to address climate change and related issues confronting humankind.

Mr. Immelt will make his remarks at noon at the Jack Morton Auditorium at 805 21st Street NW on the campus of The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. The event will also be broadcast live on ge.com at http://www.ge.com/en/company/news/ecowebcast.html.

Messrs. Immelt and Lash, along with leading company executives, will entertain questions from members of the news media at a press conference from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Ronald Reagan Building.
