London, 14 May 2014: Robert Plehn has been named as the new Capital Markets Leader for GE Capital International, effective July 1st. He will be responsible for all strategic Capital Markets activities for GE Capital businesses across Europe and Asia Pacific, including cash flow and asset-backed loan and lease syndications. The position reports into Rich Laxer, President and CEO for GE Capital International and functionally to the Global head of Capital Markets at GE Capital, Stewart Koenigsberg. Robert replaces Ellen Brunsberg, who was appointed as the President of GE Real Estate Europe.
Robert comes to GE Capital International having spent over 10 years with Lloyds Banking Group. At Lloyds he was Head of the Asset Backed Solutions team from 2011 and prior to that he held various roles at Lloyds including Head of the Capital Markets Debt Products Group, and Head of the Securitisation and Covered Bonds team. Before this, he was with ING Barings / ING Bank from 2001-2003 as Head of European and subsequently Global Securitisation. Prior to joining ING Robert was a partner in the London office of the international law firm of Sidley & Austin where he focused on European securitisation, having joined the firm in 1988. During his time at Sidley & Austin he spent nearly two years on secondment in the Dutch and French offices of the Dutch law firm Nauta Dutilh.
Robert holds a JD from Harvard Law School and a BA from Vassar College.
