GE Capital has today announced that it has submitted 30 teams ahead of this weekend´s London Triathlon sprint team relay.
The triathlon entries emphasise GE Capital´s ongoing commitment to the sport, demonstrated by their sponsorship of British triathletes Helen and Marc Jenkins for the London Olympics. This is itself part of GE´s broader sponsorship of the British Triathlon Federation and elite team in the build-up to and during the 2012 Olympic Games. Each team will comprise of three competitors: one swimmer (750m), one cyclist (20km) and one runner (5km) in order to complete the sprint event, which is to be held at London´s ExCeL centre. On the day each team member completes one leg of the triathlon handing over their timing chip (the Baton) at the end of each leg.
As well as teams made up of GE Capital employees, there will be a number of clients and introducers competing in the event, including MCR (who have three offices nationally); Altro (based in Hertfordshire); Wilkins Kennedy (based in London); Mayer Brown International LLP (also based in London); and Baker Tilly (who have three London offices and 26 other offices nationwide).
John Jenkins, CEO, GE Capital UK said: "GE Capital´s involvement in the London Triathlon highlights our dedication to this sport and the health and wellbeing it can give. By competing together with our introducers and clients we are hoping that the event will encourage some friendly rivalry and team building, while the participants also experience the health benefits that triathlon can bring."
Helen Jenkins (no relation to John), British Triathlete and 2008 World Champion, commented: "It is great to see GE Capital encourage participation in triathlon. I am sure that every team member will feel the health benefits of training for the event and joining the team in such a rewarding sport. "
