BETHESDA, Md.--04 April 2011-- GE Capital, Healthcare Financial Services, as agent and co-lender, announced today that it has funded the final $10 million tranche of a $20 million senior secured multi-draw term loan to NeoVista®, Inc. The financing provides NeoVista with working capital to support the completion of its pivotal FDA trial for the treatment of wet age-related macular degeneration, utilizing the VIDION® ANV® Therapy System.
NeoVista is a privately held Newark, CA-based company dedicated to the development of medical technologies that help to advance the treatment of wet age-related macular degeneration. Their innovative procedure, Epimacular Brachytherapy, utilizes highly targeted strontium 90 beta radiation in a one-time surgical procedure. This technology has the potential to reduce the burden that wet AMD places on healthcare providers, patients and the healthcare system.
"When looking for financing, we wanted an experienced lender that could tailor a financing solution to meet our needs," said Tim Dumke, vice president of finance at NeoVista. "GE Capital, Healthcare Financial Services has been a supportive financing resource and their healthcare finance expertise helped to create a debt financing structure that met our needs."
"We are pleased to provide financing to NeoVista to help them complete the pivotal phase 3 trial of VIDION® ANV® Therapy System," said Anthony Storino, senior managing director, GE Capital, Healthcare Financial Services, Life Sciences. "Our combination of healthcare and financial expertise enables us to provide healthcare companies like NeoVista with the best financing solution to meet their overall business objectives, and to discover the next great breakthrough."
