GE, Brush Sign Turbogenerator Service Agreement for North America

GE, Brush Sign Turbogenerator Service Agreement for North America
ATLANTA, GEORGIA (December 17, 2003) --- GE Power Systems and Brush Electrical Machines Limited of the U.K. have announced a five-year agreement naming GE as the exclusive service provider for Brush turbogenerators powered by GE gas turbines installed in North America.
Brush and GE will work together to ensure the operational availability of Brush's installed machines as well as new units entering service during the life of the agreement. Brush has supplied in excess of 500 turbogenerator sets for GE turbine drives, providing a capacity of more than 25 gigawatts of power for base load and peaking duties for electricity generation across North America.
The new agreement covers generator parts, services (other than control equipment-related) and repairs for Brush generators driven by GE turbines in North America. No financial details of the agreement were disclosed.
The agreement marks GE's first service partnership with one of its generator suppliers, and is expected to result in a significant growth in service activities for the GE gas turbine generator fleet installed during the past 10 years in North America.
"This agreement was mainly driven by the synergies between GE's broad service presence in North America and Brush's desire to partner with a full-service provider for their generators," said Ricardo Artigas, president of GE Energy Services, the services unit of GE Power Systems.
"By combining the operation and maintenance capabilities of GE and Brush, our customers will benefit from faster service response times and an expanded portfolio of service options," he added.
"We are very pleased to have this joint agreement with GE for the continuing support of our combined turbine-generator fleet in the important North American market," said Tony Saia, Brush managing director. "Brush has always committed to supporting the generator fleet for its working lifetime, and this arrangement will give our customers further confidence in the equipment that will keep their generation safe for years to come."
Based in Loughborough, UK, Brush designs, manufactures, supplies and maintains equipment for the world power generation industry. Its products also are used in petrochemical and process industries worldwide, and for offshore oil platforms, marine and dockside applications, heavy industry, mining and mineral sites. In addition to Loughborough, Brush has manufacturing facilities in Ridderkerk, the Netherlands and Pilsen, Czech Republic.
Customers in North America interested in obtaining service for their Brush generators should contact their GE Power Systems sales representative or visit gepower.com.
