GE Appoints Corporate Regional Executive to Lead New Growth Drive in Middle East

Jeddah, November 30, 2002 ---- General Electric has appointed Abdullah Taibah as the Corporate Regional Executive for the Middle East region, including the GCC, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. Taibah, based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia will head Middle East operations, a promising market which accounts for business of US$1.6 billion earned from its eight diversified business groups.

In his new role, Taibah will report directly to Brussels-based Nani Beccalli, President and CEO of GE's operations in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Prior to taking over his new position, Taibah served as the National Executive for Saudi Arabia, in addition to Sales Master Black Belt for GE Power Systems (GEPS) in the Middle East, India, and Africa region.

With the wealth of experience in Commercial and Six Sigma Quality and his extensive knowledge of the Middle East market, we are confident Abdullah will play a very significant part in bringing our plans to fruition," said Beccalli.

Taibah, who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia, joined GEPS in 1993 as a sales proposal engineer. In subsequent years, Abdullah has built on his engineering and sales skills, quickly establishing strong relationships with both established and potential customers and assuming increasing responsibility within the commercial organisation.
