January 31, 2005 -- EVENDALE, OH -- General Electric Company has signed an agreement for Aviall, Inc., to serve as the exclusive distributor of unique replacement parts for GE's CF6-50 and CF6-80A engine for the life of these engine programs.
Under the terms of the agreement, GE will continue to source and manufacture unique replacement parts for the CF6-50 and CF6-80A engines. Aviall will be responsible for handling customer orders, forecasting, warehousing and product delivery of these unique genuine OEM spare parts. GE will continue to manufacture and sell all common spare parts used on all GE and CFMI engine platforms.
"Our goal is to provide our CF6-50 and CF6-80A engine customers with the highest level of access to and support for our genuine OEM parts for the remaining life-cycle of these products," said Dan Heintzelman, president of GE Engine Services. "I'm confident that Aviall has the best expertise and global capability to further enhance our current high standards of distribution and forecasting services and to offer customer-focused support for the unique spare parts on these older engines."
The CF6-50 and CF6-80A engines have been fitted to several types of aircraft, including the Airbus A300 and A310, the early series Boeing 767s, 747-200 models and the DC-10-30 model and the U.S. Air Force's KC-10. These versatile engines presently power more than 1,500 aircraft in both passenger and freighter applications.
