GE Announces Promotions

FAIRFIELD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 30, 2002--GE today named three executives to leadership positions in financial planning and two of its financial services units, and named a new chief financial officer for GE Plastics.
William H. Cary, currently president and CEO of GE's Vendor Financial Services (VFS) unit, will become corporate vice president for financial planning and analysis. Daniel S. Henson, president and CEO of GE's Fleet Services business, will replace Cary at VFS, and Kathy V. Marinello, leader of the Partnership Marketing Group at GE Financial, will become Fleet Services' president and CEO.
In addition, Brian T. Gladden, manager - Finance (Lexan) for GE Plastics, has been promoted to Plastics vice president and CFO.
Cary will report to Keith S. Sherin, GE senior vice president, Finance and CFO. Henson will report to Michael A. Neal, president and CEO of GE Commercial Finance, and Marinello will report to Arthur H. Harper, president and CEO of GE Equipment Management. Gladden will report to Yoshiaki Fujimori, GE Plastics president and CEO effective September 1. The other changes take effect October 1.

Brian, who has come up through GE's management programs and the corporate audit staff, exemplifies the best of GE's learning culture."
Immelt noted that Cary succeeds Robert W. Nelson, 62, who will retire from GE at the end of the year after 36 years, the last 15 as leader of the Company's financial planning team. "Bob Nelson has a combination of realism and vision that has enabled him to play an essential role in GE's success over the past decade, and we wish him the best," Immelt said.
Cary, 43, was vice president and manager of financial planning and analysis for GE Capital before heading VFS. In his 16-year GE career, he has also served as chief financial officer of Global Consumer Finance, a senior vice president for GE Capital in Asia, and a variety of operating, marketing, and financial positions. He holds a B.S. from San Jose State University and is a graduate of GE's Financial Management Program.
Henson, 41, has headed Fleet Services since Jan. 2001. He began his GE career in 1987, moving through positions of increasing responsibility at several of GE's financial services businesses, including managing director of European Equipment Finance and president and general manager of Auto Financial Services. Henson also spent a year as GE Capital's vice president and Chief Quality Officer. He holds a B.B.A. from George Washington University.
Marinello, 46, joined GE in 1997 with extensive experience in financial services marketing and operations, including positions at First Data Corporation, First Bank Systems, Chemical Bank and Citibank. After serving as president of GE Capital's Consumer Financial Services business, she was named to her current position in August 1999. She holds an M.B.A. from Hofstra University and a B.A. from S.U.N.Y. at Albany.
Gladden, 37, joined GE in 1988. A graduate of GE's Financial Management Program, he has also spent five years on the Corporate Audit Staff, and has held positions in engineering, finance, and business development at GE Aerospace, GE Medical Systems and GE Plastics. He holds a B.S. in Finance from Millersville University.
