GE and Pro Ventum sign MOU for their first wind energy project in Thailand

First Wind Energy 

Bangkok, August 6th, 2010 -- GE and Pro Ventum recently came together for a MOU signing ceremony to announce their first wind energy project in Thailand. When operational, the 90-megawatt Thepsathit Wind Farm in Chaiyaphum province could potentially be one of the first of its scale in Thailand.

GE would be supplying 36 units of its 2.5-megawatt wind turbines and is also looking into a potential equity investment in the project. Aligning with GE's ecomagination campaign, the project will support the Thai government's target to use renewable resources for as much as 20% of its power generation by 2020.          

The ceremony was honorably witnessed by Dr. Wannarat Charnnukul, Minister of Energy, Mr. Wanchai Suthivorachai, Governor of Chaiyaphum province, and various distinguished guests. It took place at the Plaza Athenee Hotel, Bangkok.
