Mississauga, ON -- GE (NYSE: GE) GE Canada and Career Edge Organization have achieved a significant milestone with the placement of the company's 500th new graduate intern in GE. Through Career Edge Organization, GE Canada participates in innovative 6-12 month paid internship programs that place recent grads, internationally qualified professionals and graduates with disabilities. GE celebrated with an event bringing together many Career Edge alumni, including the company's first and 500th interns.
GE has participated in the Career Edge program for recent graduates since 1996, helping individuals get their first work experience after graduation. "This is an excellent program that brings incredible talent to GE," notes Terry Peach, Manager of Human Resources, GE Canada. "The caliber of graduates working in GE has been outstanding, we have offered approximately 40 percent of the intern's full-time positions, and many of these individuals have gone on to leadership positions within the company. Others have leveraged their work experience at GE Canada for jobs outside the company."
Career Edge Organization works with hundreds of employers and has placed close to 11,000 individuals in paid internships.
